Organic Eating

What does it really mean for food to carry the Certified Organic Label? Is there really a difference between certified organic products and “all natural” products? These are great questions.

As organic foods can be found almost everywhere now, it is important to understand what organic means and why it is so important to choose organic foods whenever possible. I think that most of us feel that eating organically is a new trend, but the interesting thing about eating organic food is that it is not a trend at all. It is simply going back to the way things used to be. Our grandparents and great grandparents ate organic food. Our ancestors ate organic food. Eating organically is the way it is SUPPOSED to be, not the other way around.


DEFINITION of Organic:
a) Raised or conducted without the use of drugs, hormones, or synthetic chemicals
b) Simple, healthful, and close to nature

So when you see a certified organic label on food, you will know that it is as close as one can get to eating naturally from the earth. No fake chemicals. No synthetic insecticides. No additives. Nothing fake. This is a big deal.

We have taken for granted that the food we eat carries a lot of nutrition. But after all the chemical spraying, handling, additives, and preservatives that are added, it just makes sense that food is transformed from our nutrition into a foreign substance our bodies have to break down like a medicine.
